He was predeceased by: his parents, Blair Hanna Smith and Emma Grace Patterson Smith; his wife Martha Julia Smith; his grandson Charles Anderson; and also, Blair Hanna Smith and Emma Grace Smith.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debra A. Pugh (John P. Pugh, Sr.) and Diane Anderson (late Charles Anderson); his grandchildren, Dana M. Kemp (Joseph Kemp), John P. Pugh, Jr. (Melanie Pugh), Anthony Anderson, Justin Anderson and Marie Julia Foster; his great grandchildren, Jayce R. Kemp, Stella M. Kemp, Thomas Anderson (Tommy), Myles P. Pugh and Mason R. Pugh; and his sisters, Sandra Carline Ahalt (Monty Ahalt) and Teri Christine Smith-Jones (Kathleen Smith-Jones). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
