He was predeceased by: his parents, Steven Merkel and Virginia Merkel; and his brother Kenneth Merkel of Hampstead. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Ann Merkel (Rippeon); his daughter Christine Reyeur; his son-in-law Charles Reyeur III; his daughters, Donna Shea Heckler and Stephanie Crone; his sons-in-law, Brandon Crone Sr. and Dan Heckler; his grandchildren, Katelyn Patterson, Logan Tomlin, Reed Heckler, Cassey Ahlas, Brandon Crone II and Kobe Crone; his sister Joyce Thompson (Walter Thompson); and his sister-in-law Ginna Merkel. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
