He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Oliver Schaeffer, Sr. and Nina Thelma Schaeffer (Bush); his siblings, Albert Oliver Schaeffer, Jr., Katherine Ethel Mae Bowersox (Wesley Bowersox) and Ruth Schaeffer Knouse (John Knouse); his brother-in-law Carl Dell; his grandson Ronald Henry Hooper, Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Lee Dell, Melvin Dell, Phyllis Carico (Ernie Carico Sr.) and Eleanor Dell; and his nephews, Ernie Carico, Jr., Glenn Dell and John Bowersox.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Dolores Schaeffer (Dell); his children, Deborah Dolores Carlson (John William Carlson, Jr.) of Westminster Md and Ralph Joseph Schaeffer, Jr. (Josie Schaeffer); his granddaughters, Rachael Renee Cash (Chris Cash), Jessica Lynn Shockney (Steve Shockney), Amanda Dolores Hooper (Jason Mueller), Jennifer Jo Schultz (Matthew Schultz) and Jaclyn Marie Love (Travis Love); his great grandchildren, Kayla Cash, Makenzi Cash, Christian Hooper, Naomi Hooper Watts, Violet Shockney, Juliette Shockney, Zachary Shockney, James Schultz, Levi Schultz and Bodhi Love; his sister Miriam Irene Dell (Schaeffer); and his siblings-in-law, Carroll Richard Dell (Joyce Dell), Faye Marie Tracey (Dell) and Sandy Dell.
