He was predeceased by: his parents, Finbarr Joseph Murphy and Mary Corine Devlin Murphy; and his brothers, Daniel Murphy and Finbarr Murphy. He is survived by: his daughters, Meaghan Murphy of Wheaton, MD and Morgan Austin (Brandon) of Huntington Beach, CA; his siblings, Dennis Murphy (Tana) of Hedgesville, WV and Corine Schuster (Christopher) of Westminster, MD; and his sister-in-law Jo Beth Murphy of Hampstead, MD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Michael to The National Stuttering Association.
