He was predeceased by: his mother Margaret Sterner Athman; his sons, John J. Athman, Jr. and Casey Shane Athman; and his sister Margaret Athman Kus. He is survived by: his father Henry J. Athman; his wife Josie Barclay Athman; his son Michael David Athmann (Shonna); and his daughter-in-law Kimberly Athman. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St John's RC Church in Westminster or to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
