He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James Kirkner and Ruby Landis Kirkner; his wife Merle Davis Kirkner; his daughter Kathy Sue Kirkner; and his siblings, Bobbie Jean Dalton, Elmer E. Kirkner and Ruby Jane Waller.
He is survived by: his children, Albert Lee Kirkner (Sybil Kirkner), Benny Robert Kirkner (Janice Kirkner), Richard Michael Kirkner (Daphne Kirkner) and Patricia Lou Barnes (Rick Barnes); and his grandchildren, Dannette Kirkner, Christina Kanther, Denise Vourlos, Carrie Brister, Megian Lightner, Erik Kirkner, Brian Kirkner, Emma Kirkner and Nicole Kirkner. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
