John J. Mertz Obituary
We are sad to announce that on December 3, 2022, at the age of 86, John J. Mertz of Westernport, Maryland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Leo and Lucille Gertrude Mertz (Green); his sons, Francis and Michael; his grandson Jack; his siblings, Mary Elsen and Tom Mertz; his nieces, Ann Elsen and Debbie Langan; and his siblings-in-law, Bev Mertz, Bill Elsen, Jack Meyers, Fred Meyers, Jeannie Meyers, Frank Gavin and Gary Rymer.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Anne; his children, Mary Jo O'Brien (Jim), John (Janine) and Joe (Christina); his grandchildren, Mike, Sean, Cecilia O'Brien, Jaimie, Julia, Jenna Mertz and Alexandra Mertz; his great grandchildren, Rowan and Luke O'Brien; and his brothers, Jim and George. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request the memorials be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
