He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Sims and Jean Sims; and his siblings, Donna Sims-Pringle (Tess), William Sims (Billy), Philip Sims (Philly), Linda Sims and Joseph Taylor.

He is survived by: his close friend Natalie Brooks; his grandson Emmett Sims; his siblings, Patricia Tran and Edward Sims; and also, Kristen Mandeville, Amanda Sims and Charles Michael "Mikey" Sims II. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
