He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles F. Herbert and Rose Josephine Herbert (Panovicz); and his siblings, Francis Herbert, Rose Nichols and Helena Blanchfield.

He is survived by: his children, Pamela Wright, Fred Herbert, Jr. (Emme), Michael Herbert (Alex) and Joe Herbert (Dianna); his stepdaughters, Tina Lawson (Tim) and Brenda Carpenter; and his friend Dwight Miller. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
