With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Carla Morales of Welcome, Maryland, born in Waldorf, Maryland, who passed away on September 9, 2021 at the age of 39. She was predeceased by: her grandfather Joseph "Carl" Comos Shorter Sr.; her brother Russell Leon Lyles Jr.; her stepsister Patricia Lyles; and her grandmother Elizabeth Ann Shorter. She is survived by: her parents, Patricia Shorter Shubrooks and John Demingo Thompson; her uncles, James, Joseph "J. C.", Thomas, Harry, Clifton and Robert; her children, Anastasia Allen, Marilyn Shubrooks and Quincey Shorter; her husband Juan Morales; her stepsiblings, Paul Chase Jr., Sylvia Farmer, Ruby Jones (Vincent) and Tracy Lancaster; her stepfathers, Calvin Shubrooks, Paul Chase and Russell Lyles; and her close friend Barry Sheff. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
