It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Elwood Howard (Waldorf, Maryland), born in York, Pennsylvania, who passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Irene Howard (Rene); his son James Lee Bussard; his grandchildren, James Richard Mandish and Kelli Jo Mandish; and his parents, Edward Howard and Mabel Howard.
He is survived by: his close friend Mary J. Harvey of Raphine, VA; his daughters, Bly Ann Mandish of Mulberry, FL and Sara J. Bucklew (George) of Waldorf, MD; and his grandchildren, Timothy Lee Bussard of Morgantown, Anthony M. Whelan (Stacy) of Waldorf, MD, Eric V. Womack (Lisa) of Lakeland, FL, John E. Mandish (Mary) of Davidsonville, MD and Denean Bucklew of White Plains, MD.. He is also survived by 15 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Huntt Funeral Home (3035 Old Washington Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601). A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Memorial Gardens (3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601).
In lieu of flowers we request a donation be made in his name to the American Legion Post 238, Hughesville, MD.
