He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel H. Hopkins, Sr. and Grace Olivia Hopkins (Harris). He is survived by: his close friend Phyllis Bowman of Upperco; and his sons, Samuel H. Hopkins, III (Kathy) of Finksburg, Brian Michael Hopkins of Reisterstown and Jeffrey Scott Hopkins of Bel Air. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
