He was predeceased by: his parent Granville E. Merryman. He is survived by: his parent Leuvene L. Merryman of Upperco, MD; his daughters, Kristen Price and Cierra Merryman; his grandchildren, Tegan, Aven and Brynn Price; his sister Denise Merryman; and his nieces and nephews, Kyle Martin and Karianne Gay.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
