It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Maphis (Upper Marlboro, Maryland), born in Falls Church, Virginia, who passed away on January 24, 2019, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Franklin and Pauline Lillian Maphis; her sister Waunita Ann Doss; and her niece Robin Marie Doss-Gray. She is survived by: her children, Debra Jean Brent (Charles) and James Maphis; her sister Jean McCall; her niece Darlene Smith (Marcus); her nephews, Rodney Doss, Steven Doss (Lakia), Timothy Doss and Anthony "Tony" Jones; her great-niece Janea Washington; and her children, Kharon (Gisille) and Jacob Howard. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
