She was predeceased by: her parents, Lu'La Thomas and James Rhodes; her husband Jerrel Hamlett; her children, Erica Lewis-Nelson and Trevor Hamlett; and her siblings, James Robert Rhodes (Roslinda), Earnest Rhodes Sr., Rudine Major and Margie Thomas.
She is survived by: her children, Nathaniel Freeman, Natalie Hubbard (Kevin) and Theron Nelson. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A RSVP wasn't needed because Helen believed in just making sure enough food was prepared for all.
