He was predeceased by: his parents, David Kirby, Sr. and Helen Orna Hudson Metz; his wife Jane Carroll Metz; his son Gary Hudson Metz; and his sister Orna Lee Massey.
He is survived by: his children, Beverly Metz Blakeney (John "Tink") of Chestertown, MD and Wayne Carroll Metz of Easton, MD; his brother Thomas H. Metz (Joan); his grandchildren, Christopher Hudson Metz, Sara Metz Dyott (Steven), Heather Blakeney Ewing (JR), Laura Blakeney Royer (Kevin), Timothy Jon Metz and Matthew Gary Metz; and his great grandchildren, Kelsi Dyott, Dawson Dyott, Toby Metz, Katelyn Metz, Abigail Ewing, Kirby Ewing, Hudson Royer and Blake Royer.
