He was predeceased by: his former wife Patricia Kerner; and his siblings, Frank Kerner and Corinne Kerner. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Smith of Martinsburg, WV; his brother Jerry Kerner (Marie); his nieces and nephews, Charles Smith (Gudelia) of Harpers Ferry, WV and Thomas Kerner (Julia) of Wilmington; his daughter Amy Livering (Dustin Livering) of Dallastown, PA.; his grandchildren, Sarah, Emily Kerner, Dustin, Devin, Autumn Livering, Christopher and Kimberly Smith; and his great grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Lilah and Ripley Hudson.

Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. (1050 York Rd, Towson, MD 21204). A graveside service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Faith Memorial Gardens (5598 Trumps Mill Rd, Baltimore, MD 21206).
