He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugo C. Bernstein and Mary Lee Bernstein (Starnes); and his half-brothers, Calman Bernstein and Ray Miller. He is survived by: his wife Nancy J. Bond; his children, Laurel Bernstein (Skylar Loeb) of Oakland and Logan Bernstein (Kresina Bernstein) of Cockeysville, Maryland.; and his half-brother Thomas Bernstein (Vincent Hogh) of Sarasota, Florida.. He is also survived by five beautiful grandchildren.
