She was predeceased by: her husband Monty A. Childress; her parents, Charles Griggs and Claudine Griggs (Ashwell); and her brother Glenn Griggs. She is survived by: her children, Charles K. Childress (Christopher M. Childress) and Stacey Phillips (Justyna Childress); her brother John Griggs; her grandchildren, Ryan, Calie, Natalie and Cayson; and her nephew Matthew Griggs.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Rd, Mt Airy, MD 21771.
