He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Alston and Lizzie Mae Alston; his brother Ronnie Alston; and his niece Shannon Turner. He is survived by: his daughter Martina "Tina" Alston; his siblings, Linda Turner, Patricia Alston, Ellis C. Jr. (Sherry), Richard Wayne and Michael Alston; and his nieces and nephews, Timekia Alston, Megen Goode, Lanika Jones (Herman), Charmane Alston, Aaris Grant (Isadore), Morgan Alston, Demond Alston (Abena) and Jason Turner.
He worked at various hospitals, making significant contributions to the field.
