He was predeceased by: his parents, Pius Leo Hemler and Katheryn Joanna Hemler; his daughter Mary Patricia Hemler of Taneytown; and his grandchildren, George R. Hemler, Jr. and Frances Hemler.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Loretta Hemler; and his children, George R. Hemler III (Kak) of South Dennis, MA, F. Christine Hammond of Taneytown, David A. Hemler (Elaine) of Westminster, MD, Angela T. Eyler (Greg) of Union Bridge, MD and Joseph V. Hemler (Lisa) of Taneytown. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
