He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Viola Ambers Gholston; his sisters, Mildred Carbon and Inez Mayfield; his daughter Trudy Poole; his grandchildren, Bernard Blassingame and Allison Goodine; his daughters, Iva Jean Goodine, Brenda Blassingame, Diane Beasley and Lenoble Warren; and his cousin Virginia. He was also cherished by His ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
