He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold E. Bartelt and Charlotte A. Bartelt. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Schroeder Bartelt; his children, Becky A. Bartelt of Chesapeake, Maryland and Michael W. Bartelt; and his grandchildren, Max, Ben and Emma Bartelt of Cary.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is encouraged.
