He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Billie Sondberg and C. Joseph Urbaniak. He is survived by: his father Michael Chris Sondberg; his wife Kelli Marie Sondberg; his children, Zoë Marie, Kristian Brady and Jaxon Robert Sondberg; his parent Jan Sondberg; his siblings, Jennafer Alyse Sondberg and Tyler Michael Sondberg (Jill Parisi); his grandparents, Chris O'Leary Sondberg, Rosalie King and Jonell Urbaniak; his parents-in-law, Sharon and Ronald Seger; his sisters-in-law, Erin McDermott, Brittani Seger and Kaitlyn Seger; and his nieces and nephews, Taylor York, Cyara McDermott, Baylee McDermott, Talon McColgan and Rae Arnold. He is also survived by loving brother and brother-in-law and was well loved by his cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for Hunter's children has been set up at Bank of America in Dunkirk.
