He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Nancy J. Russ; his children, William Russ Jr. (Deshanus), Cassandra Russ and Roxanne Boyd (Miles); his stepchildren, Curtis Coates, Gwendolyn Young (George) and Shevonne Howard; his stepbrother Francis Cooper; his siblings-in-law, Francis Sharps (Helen), Mac Arthur Johnson, Shirley Russ, Dorothy Jones, Linda Robinson and Shirl Johnson; his friend Joseph Parker; his parents, William Russ and Mary Russ; his former wife Barbara Russ; his brother John Russ; his siblings-in-law, Marshall Johnson, Leon Johnson, Joyce Brown and Sherri Ann Johnson; and also Lionel Coates. He was also cherished by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
