She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Robert Layfield, Sr. and Ethel Mae Layfield (Smullen); her husband Preston Bounds Jr.; her sisters-in-law, Mary Wimbrow, Ruth Pusey and Frances Stevens; her son-in-law Richard "Nick" Carter, Jr.; and her siblings, Delsie Elliott Evans, Samuel Layfield, Jr. and Richard Layfield.
She is survived by: her children, Preston W. Bounds III and Janet M. Carter; her grandchildren, Bill Bounds (Sonja), Scott Nibblett (Nancy), Julie Nibblett (Chris McLain), Erica Bounds Vander Sys (Chris Sys) and Jennifer Morgan Smullen (Todd); and her sister-in-law Doris Bowen. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
