With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bonnie Schaller of Smithsburg, Maryland, born in Hagerstown, Maryland, who passed away on September 28, 2023 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Edgar Lareine Winders and Sudie Elizabeth Winders (Hershberger); her husband Franklin Joseph Schaller; her son Joseph "Joey" Franklin Schaller; and her sister Loretta Ruths (Sonny).

She is survived by : her children, Shannon May Smith (Tommy) and Joel Franklin Schaller (Ryan); her grandson Corey Ryan Snyder; her sister-in-law Doris Richardson (Jerry); her niece Cheryl Obitts (Don); her nephews, Bud Ruths (Deb), Ed Ruths (Bobbi) and Lynn Ruths (Sebrina); her stepgrandchildren, Steven Smith and Jennifer D'Amato; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Steven Richardson, Isaac Ruths, Tanner Ruths, Taylor Ruths, Tiffany Snow, Jennifer McCoy, Alexis Alvarez and Janessa McCormick; and her great grandchildren, August and Graham D'Amato.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Bonnie Schaller to Hospice of Washington County – Doey's House or Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services.

Lynn Milek wrote a sympathy message

“Bonnie was such a lovely woman...there are some patients that aren't forgotten and she is one of them. She made her mark on many people's lives and on their hearts. I will remember laughs with her and "Clara Mae" and her always offering a piece of chocolate.
