He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J Scharf and Julia N Scharf; his sister Georgie; his son Gregory; and his grandson Francis Leo Allnutt.

He is survived by: his wife Allie of Annapolis; his daughters, Terry Allnutt (Frank) of Keedysville, MD, Cindy Scharf (Olivia Pickett) of Silver Spring, MD, Gretchen Mahoney (Steve) of Newark, DE and Lisa Triepke of Missoula, MT; his grandchildren, Emily Duran, Marcus Allnutt (Lauren Youngcourt), Thomas Mahoney, Ethan Allnutt, Christopher, Mahoney Julia Mahoney, Maxwell Triepke, Samuel Triepke, Sidney Triepke and Jackson Triepke; his great grandchildren, Suzana, Lucia and Robinson Duran; his sister-in-law Virginia Scharf; his nieces, Joanna Scharf and Elizabeth Scharf; his cousin Neil Hazel; and his godsons, Tim Seh and John Nemecek. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
