She was predeceased by: her husband John D. Neumann, Jr.; and her siblings, Msgr and John. She is survived by: her children, John Daniel Neumann, III (Mary), Amy N. Haynes and Jean N. Cotter (George); her grandchildren, Elizabeth Hankins, Patricia Neumann, Katherine Benisatto, Thomas Cotter, Patrick Cotter and Megan Cotter; and her sister Patricia Negherbon.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Peter's Church (2900 Olney Sandy Spring Rd, Olney, MD 20832). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.

“LaVerne was a cherished member of the Woman's Club of Chevy Chase for many years. She participated in the Community Service committee helping to work to fund grants for those in need. She and her friend Mary Elizabeth often served as greeters for many events at the club. She always had a cheerful smile and helping hand ready to assist her friends and those less fortunate.She will be missed, and we hope that your memories will comfort you in the days ahead.
