He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Kathy Carr, Karen Knox (Ron) of Fort Wayne, IN and Kenneth W. Gaines III of Bladensburg, MD; and his sister-in-law Ora Gaines. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post #41 Garden Fund.,.
