He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Lane Tillman (Lummy) and Eva Margaret Whitaker Tillman; his brother-in-law Darryl; his siblings, Judith Gibson and Jake; his wife Joan Tillman; his son Joey Tillman; his daughter-in-law Lynn Tillman; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mya, Cameron and Lennox; his siblings, Phyllis Tillman of Jonesboro, Darryl (Judith Gibson), Paul (Vita Hodge) and George Tillman (Kevin Tillman); and his nieces and nephews, Kim, O'Dena (Stirstee), Margaret (Poonsberry), Kevin, Dara (Nachez), Ebony, Ramses, Isis, Nicholas, Kedrick, Omar, Shelbi (Snuga Rahgus) and Destiny.
Shortly thereafter, he spent over a month in the intensive care unit battling the effects of COVID-19.
