It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joseph Groomes Jr. of Silver Spring, Maryland, born in Baltimore, Maryland, who passed away on October 20, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Shirley Ann Edwards Groomes; his parents, Harriet Buchanan Cavey Groomes and Joseph Nicholson Groomes; his children, Joseph Nicholson Groomes, III, Karen Harriet Groomes Morgan (John) and Patrick Edwards Groomes (Leslie); and his grandsons, Robert, Evan, Ian, Aidan and Christopher.
Due to concerns of rising Covid numbers, the funeral Mass is cancelled.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Joe's name to either of the two organizations whose missions he supported: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial & Museum.
