It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John G. Womack Jr. (Silver Spring, Maryland), who passed away on December 11, 2019, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Womack and Ardelia Womack; his wife Susan Womack; his brother Dr. James P. Womack (Anne Copeland) of Boston, Massachusetts; and his children, Kristi Lowe (Casey) of Alexandria, Virginia, Jay Womack (Lyn) of Silver Spring, Maryland and Allie Hoover (Josh) of West Bloomfield, Michigan. He was also cherished by five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that gifts be made to either the Alzheimer's Association.

“For the 25 years that John Womack and I were colleagues in the NHTSA Chief Counsel's Office (until my retirement in 2000), John was a thoughtful civil servant, who made decisions with integrity, while seeking to treat all involved respectfully. Although current health problems may prevent me from attending John 's memorial service in person, I'll definitely be there in spirit, out of respect for John, and sympathy to his family. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort.”
