He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Patricia Regina Abernethy; his children, Michelle, Christine, John, James, Joseph, Regina, Mary Patricia and Michael; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Christine, Sjaak, Annamarieke, Christopher John, Sarah, Andrew, Mathieu, Margaret, William, Aaron, Owen, Joseph, Alexandra, Evan, Natalie and Brayan; his brother Eugene "Gene" Abernethy; and his parents, Charles Abernethy and Marie Abernethy (Murphy).
