He was predeceased by: his brother Mark Mason (Marsha). He is survived by: his wife Mary Beth Mason; his children, Michael S. Mason, Carol M. Rothman, Ann R. Carlson (Barry) and Diane Feldman Askounes; his grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Elena, Michael, Ben, Tommy, Rachel, Charles, David, Rebecca, Brian, Olivia, Zachary, Natalie and Melody; his great grandchildren, Vilijar, Dominic, Vincent, Isaac, Kathleen, Mikey, Bradley, Penny, Camile, Alice, Caroline and Gabriel; his brothers, Gary (Aggie) and Kent (Ruth Ann); and his former wife Caroline "Ruthie" Jean Rutherford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Nature Conservancy.
