He was predeceased by: his parents, William M. Zimmerman and Gladys I. Klinger Zimmerman; his wife Janet; his siblings, Nancy Caraker (Zimmerman) and Ira "Bud" Zimmerman; and his aunt Merle E. Foose.

He is survived by: his children, Donna E. Tscharner (Chris) of Severna Park, MD., Donald W. Zimmerman, Jr. of Severna Park, MD., Roberta E. of Severna Park, MD., Wesley P. Zimmerman of Severna Park, MD. and Beth A. of Severna Park, MD.; his brothers, Warren Zimmerman and Leroy Zimmerman; and his grandchildren, Mark D. Wharton and Whitney B. Zimmerman. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Viewing will be held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grabowski Funeral Home (75 Memorial Dr, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972). A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Schuylkill Memorial Park (75 Memorial Dr, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972).
