It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernon Melvin Urie of Salisbury, Maryland, born in Chestertown, Maryland, who passed away on February 16, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Melvin Urie and Marjorie Corrine Hague Urie; and his son Andrew Scott Bixler (Shawna). He is survived by: his wife Linda M. Urie of Salisbury; his children, Jennifer M. Payne (Harless) of Ridgely, MD and David W. Bixler (Michelle) of Ridgely; his sister Alice Ann Cornelius of Greensboro, MD; his grandchildren, Kali Gregson (Stephen), Michael Lane, Sarah Payne (Dustin), Sierra Davey (Patrick), Abigail Payne, Adam Lane, Savannah Jordan (Tim) and George Bixler; his nieces, Julie Haynes (Learie), Jackie Geres (Chris), Willa Scharch (Tom) and Nicki Cornelius (Brad); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kimberly, Thomas Cahall, Tristan, Lane Scharch and Brittany Haynes. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
