She was predeceased by: her father Harry Long; and her children, Carolyn Madden and David Dougherty. She is survived by: her boyfriend Bobby Mears; and her sister Marie Coyle. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to the ASPCA.
