He was predeceased by: his father Marvin L. Phillips; and his nephew Michael R. Phillips. He is survived by: his mother Ellen P. Phillips; his siblings, John M. Phillips and Karen A. McDowell; and his nieces and nephews, Angela E. Peterson, John M. Phillips II, Jennifer Carden, Kristie N. Smith, Steven L. Dennis and Laura L. Adams.
