He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Evelyn Melvin; his grandmother Birdie Gray; his wife Phyllis; his children, Richard "Richie" Gray Jr., Wendy Godwin (Bobby), Jody Gray (Christine) and Lori Holland (Claude); his grandchildren, Dylan Gray, Dustin Godwin (Courtney), Danielle Gray, Noah Gray, Gabriella Germann and Cody Holland; his brothers, Norris Melvin, Billy Melvin and Johnny Melvin; and his cousins, Gail and Lawrence Lewis. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews.
