He was predeceased by: his parents, Almeron M. Barr and Edwina Marie Barr; his wife Mary Jane Oliver; his daughter Pamela Jane Miller; and his friend Ann Purnell.
He is survived by: his son Richard S. Barr, Jr. (Kathleen H. Barr) of Salisbury; his son-in-law Thomas J. Miller of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Christine Jane Fornes (Todd) of Holly Springs, NC, Richard S. Barr, III (Morgan) of Salisbury, Stephen Robert Miller (Rebecca) of Dallas and Elizabeth Jane Hodges of Austin; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Sophia Fornes, Olivia, Ellie Barr, Wyatt, Ellie Miller and Gavin Hodges.
