He was predeceased by: his parents, Max P. Hughes, Sr. and Miriam Hughes; his sister Marsha Richards; and his nephew David Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Karen Gregson Hughes; his children, Scott Hughes (Ashley Hughes) and Genie Hughes (Carlos Cevallos); his grandchild McKenzie Hughes; his brother Don Hughes; his sister-in-law Leslie Hughes; and his nieces, Lucille Hughes and Melaine Copeland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Rockawalkin Ruritan Club, 28174 Bishops Ct, Salisbury, MD 21801, and the Salisbury Jaycees Foundation PO Box 855.
