She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Leatherbury and Helen Jones Leatherbury; her husband Levi Thompson; her children, Letha Thompson and Levi Thompson, Jr.; and her siblings, Anne Carter, Ruth Smith, Ida Jenkins, Shirley Bowen, Lorraine Mays, William Leatherbury and Robert Lee Leatherbury.
She is survived by: her children, Joanne Phillips (Willie), Carolyn Thompson, Helen Cunningham, Kenneth Thompson (Jayme) and Patrina Flynn (Jereld); and her sister Dorothy Sterling. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
