He was predeceased by: his parents, John Russell, Sr. and Laura Lila Watson (Sommers); and his brothers, Bruce Watson and Dean Watson. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Lowery Watson; his children, Brenda Stook of Greeneville, TN, Tim (Terry) of Aurora, ME, Bryan and Darrin Watson of Salisbury; and his grandchildren, Morgan Johnston-Stook, McKenzie and Bailey Watson.
