It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jannie Smith of Salisbury, Maryland, born in Cape Charles, Virginia, who passed away on October 24, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Henry Jones and Violet Jones (Weeks); her husband John Elmer "Darby" Smith; her sons, Terrace Moses and Alexander Moses Sr.; and her siblings, Junious Jones, Lenwood Jones, Purely Jones Sr., Russell Jones and Clarissa Wilson.
She is survived by: her children, John Moses Jr. (Linda) of Salisbury, Anthony Moses of Salisbury, Samuel C. Moses of Salisbury, Kerry Thomas Jr. (Jennifer) of Salisbury, Douglas Moses Sr. (Suzanne) of Seaford, Melvin Moses of Cape Charles, Virginia, Violet M. Wallace (Douglas) of Salisbury, Maryland, Janet Moses of Salisbury, Maryland and Valarie D. Polk (Henry) of Salisbury, Maryland; and her sister Leah Powell of Salisbury, Maryland. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, more than 50 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren.

She received her religious foundation and training at First Baptist Church in Cheriton, Virginia, and continued at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Whitehaven, Maryland.
