He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome Smullen and Nacy Marie Lewis; his sister Patricia Disharoon; and his son William Randal Smullen. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Chris Smullen; his sisters, Posey Robertson, Gerry Krieg and Nellie Nuckols; his sons, Steven Smullen (Kim), James Smullen (Cindy), Timothy Smullen (Angie) and Shawn Garnett (Sarah); and his stepsons, Jason Ward (Erica) and Alan Ward (Tammy). He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
