She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lester Adkins and Sally Ellen Smack Adkins; her former husband Charles Calvin Hearn (Douglas Lee Smullen); and her siblings, Fred Adkins, Leslie Adkins, Lloyd Adkins, Beatrice Layfield and Edna Conway.
She is survived by: her children, Kathi Cottoman (Jim), Sharon Hommel (Tim), David Hearn (Cindy), Richard Hearn (Bonnie), Kevin Smullen and Wilmer Smullen; her sister Shirley Alexander; and her nephew Jay Shores (Becky). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Iris's name may be made to Olivet Christian Church, 1806 Honeywell Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863.
