He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Archibald Gray and Myrtie Terrell Gray; and his sister Peggy Gray Williams of Parksley, VA. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Tawes Gray; his children, Leslie Westfall (Ray) of Huntingtown, MD, Lisa Gibson of Huntingtown, MD and Michael Gray (Cherith) of Wolfeboro, NH; his grandchildren, Jordan Westfall (Kayla), Brittany Kirby (C. J.), Brandon Westfall, Brent Markley (Amanda), Tova Gray, Skye Gray and Shepherd Gray; his great grandchildren, Cassidy, Chloe, Delaney, Dallas, Henry and Abram; and his siblings-in-law, John Tankard Williams of Parksley, VA, Charles "Butch" Tawes (Justine) of Crisfield, MD, Timothy Tawes (Bobbi Lynn) of Marion, MD and Jeanne Hanke (Bob) of Marion, MD. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
