He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stevenson and Ida May Stevenson; his wife Dorothy Kelly Stevenson; his son John D. Stevenson, III; and his granddaughter Johanna Garrison.

He is survived by: his children, Patricia Garrison, Tim Stevenson (Lori) and Chris Stevenson (Michelle); and his daughter-in-law Kathleen Stevenson. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
