Samuel Luther Barkdoll Obituary
Samuel (Sam) Luther Barkdoll, 93, of Sabillasville Md, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18th. He was born on July 9th, 1928, in Greensburg Md to the late Delbert S. Barkdoll and Lois G. Barkdoll where he grew up on the family farm. Sam enlisted into the United States Air Force and served honorably for 4 years during the Korean War.
His profession finished out at Fort Richie, Md as a Warehouseman for over 30 years. Sam's love for God, family and music was his biggest passion in life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bird watching and playing his guitar which, he was well known in being part of the late music groups: Raven Rock Ramblers and Firm Foundation.
Sam is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Nancy J. Barkdoll; sons: W. Dean Barkdoll and wife Marla L. Timothy S. Barkdoll and wife Lisa F.; sisters: Julia E. O'Neal, M. Regina Woodring and Helen E. Black; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by 1 son, Samuel G. Barkdoll; brothers: Edward G., W. Dale, Delbert S., Richard E. and Arthur F. Barkdoll; sisters: Lois G. Miller, Elsie C. Naile, Isabelle V. Kendall and Louise M. Kline. The family will receive friends at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, Md on Thursday February 24th between 6-8pm.
Funeral and burial service will be held at 11am on Friday February 25th at Garfield United Methodist Church in Smithsburg where he will be laid to rest. Pastor Mary Ricketts and Pastor Brian Black will be officiating.
